Conference: Innovation & the Global City

For those who live in New York City — or near NYC —, NYC will host Innovation & the Global City April the 15th, 2011 at Waldorf-Astoria, from 8am to 4pm.


What is it about?
Municipalities large and small from around the world are adopting new technologies and new management systems to improve their ability to attract economic growth, management precious natural resources and improve the quality of life of their residents.
RAP's 2011 Regional Assembly, "Innovation and the Global City" will explore what global cities, from Singapore to London, and from Stockholm to New York, are doing to remain competitive on the world stage.
The conference will feature…
Barbara Kux, as Assembly chair. Keynotes will be by Richard Burdett of LSE/Urban Age, Edward Glaeser of Harvard University and the The Honorable Dannel P. Malloy, Governor of State of Connecticut.
Core elements
The conference will articulate, these three keynote aside, nine core elements: Seaports — A port for the 21st Century, Governance — New collaborations for sustainability, Intercity — High-Speed rail in America, Energy — Energy infrastructure as economic driver, Landscapes — The conservation of regional landscapes, Airports — World-Class airports, Congestion — Strategies to manage congestion, Finance — Innovative infrastructure finance, and Data — Smart cities, smart citizen.
