This project, located on a plot, measuring 3,660 square metres, with existing typical parisian buildings, in the avenue de Saxe, Paris 7th arrondissement, consists of the renovation and construction of the residence for young workers.

This housing project is based on the existing garden implanted on the site that the agency has decided to protect and to integrate in the programme. Around this garden is concentrated a juxtaposition of buildings including a chapel forming a U-type organisation. ecdm's design aims at preserving this U-type organisation. These elements will be a factor into the design of the residence and the existing buildings façades.

The first step will consist to scrap the wall and to replace it by an curvilinear glass facade which opens the garden onto the rue de Saxe.

This building is compact and raised on stilts, with small courtyards. A maximum of trees are preserved. Green side walls and windowless walls are covered with climbing plants.

A combination of inherited and contemporary architectural elements forms the building design.

ecdm will also rehabilitate the facades of the existing buildings while preserving their architectural elements.

The plan of the residence permits the felling of two trees which helps to open the view from the courtyard of the building next to the new residence.

As the building is raised on stilts, the ground below the building becomes the entrance. Vertical circulation are disposed along the wall.
